The name of the complex was inspired by the 1966 British-Italian cult Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow Up Movie under the same title. It is also the name of the project, around which the Blow Up Hall 50 50 was designed – an electronic installation by a Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer.
